What Voters Need to Know

Arizona’s 2nd (AZ-02)

Updated: October 22, 2024

Candidate CPP:

Phoenix (Prescott): $858

Overview:

Born in Tuba City and raised in Northern Arizona, former President of the Navajo Nation Jonathan Nez is focused on the needs of rural Arizona.

As President, Nez worked with the Trump Administration to expand water access to Northern Arizona communities, including those beyond tribal lands. Meanwhile, Congressman Eli Crane, who lives in Tucson, is even more extreme than Kari Lake, calling for a ban on all abortions.

Summary:

It’s critical for Independent or NPA voters across the district to read and receive ads on digital and streaming platforms about Congressman Crane’s dangerous views on abortion.

  • Eli Crane supports banning all abortion, even in cases of rape, incest, or when the life of the woman is at stake, and in Congress, he sponsored legislation that could ban birth control and IVF. Crane is even more extreme than Kari Lake when it comes to the issue of abortion.

Latino voters need to read and receive ads on digital and streaming platforms that:

  • Nez is a father, Christian, and an independent leader who will fight for rural Arizona’s needs, including water and infrastructure. He has a proven track record of working with the Trump Administration to deliver water for Northern Arizona and he will expand that work throughout Arizona in Congress.
  • On the House floor, Rep. Crane, who has been rebuked for racist comments as a member of Congress, said “the military was never intended to be, you know, inclusive. Its strength is not its diversity.”

Native voters need to read and receive ads on digital and streaming platforms that:

  • Eli Crane has longstanding ties and a close working relationship with the architects of Project 2025, which would have uniquely damaging effects for Tribal communities such as endangering millions in grants to the Navajo Nation, jeopardizing Indian Health Services, and cutting Indian Education Programs through the elimination of the Department of Education.
  • President Nez was born in Tuba City and raised in Shonto in Northern Arizona.  As President of Navajo Nation, Nez worked with the Trump Administration to expand water access to Northern Arizona communities. He also secured funds to construct new healthcare facilities and homes for veterans, invested in public safety and hired new police officers, and bolstered infrastructure, improving rural roads and bringing clean water and electricity to thousands of previously unserved residents.
